Western Environmental Law Center
WELC is comprised of dedicated lawyers and staff who specialize in environmental law enforcement and who work with grassroots citizen groups and Native American tribes to enforce our nation's environmental laws. Montana Legislative Environmental Quality Council
The Environmental Quality Council is a state legislative committee created by the 1971 Montana Environmental Policy Act. As outlined in MEPA, the EQC's purpose is to encourage conditions under which people can coexist with nature in "productive harmony". The Council fulfills this purpose by assisting the Legislature in the development of natural resource and environmental policy, by conducting studies on related issues and by serving in an advisory capacity to the state's natural resource programs.

Predator Conservation Alliance
Predator Conservation Alliance works to conserve and restore ecosystem integrity by protectingpredators and their habitats: Saving a Place for America's Predators. We advocate on behalf of the grizzly bear, wolf, lynx, wolverine, fisher, marten, northern goshawk,black-footed ferret, swift fox, burrowing owl, coyote, mountain lion, and black bear. We alsoadvocate on behalf of important prey species, such as prairie dogs, elk, and certain fish, becausethese animals provide predators with the necessary food and/or habitat.

Rock Creek Alliance
Since 1987, ASARCO (American Smelting and Refining Company), a multi-national mining corporation, has been trying to secure a permit from Kootenai National Forest and Montana's Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) to build an enormous underground copper/silver mine in northwest Montana. The mine would be developed underneath the magnificent Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area (CMWA) near the town of Noxon, roughly 15 miles from the Idaho border and 25 miles upstream of Lake Pend Orielle, Idaho's largest fresh-water lake.
