Citizens Opposed to Suncoast Tollway
Thousands of acres of upland habitat and 200 acres of wetland habitat is proposed to be transformed into a 43 mile toll road, known as the Suncoast Tollroad 1. It is proposed to begin at Tampa’s Veteran’s Expressway, fill the floodplains of the Anclote and Pithlachascotee Rivers, and transform upland gopher tortoise habitat into another lifeless concrete corridor.

Aquatic Realm International Research & Preservation Society

Tampa BayWatch, Inc. is a non-profit stewardship program dedicated exclusively to the charitable and scientific purpose of protecting and restoring the marine and wetland environments of the Tampa Bay estuary, the largest open water estuary in the State of Florida.

Save Our Seabirds
Save Our Seabirds is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing injured native and migratory birds promptly, treating their injuries and releasing rehabilitated birds back into the environment. SOS (formerly the Pinellas Seabird Rehabilitation Center) was founded in May 1990 and received its state and federal permits to handle wildlife in October 1990. The organization received its 501(c)(3) tax exempt, not-for-profit status in 1991. Since then, SOS has served southern Pinellas County, caring for injured and orphaned wild birds on a daily basis. In 1993, SOS admitted 525 birds in its small, temporary facility located in Tierra Verde, Florida, and treated an additional 371 oiled birds.

Marine Resources Council (MRC)
For over 15 years, the Marine Resources Council (MRC) has focused on major issues involving the Indian River Lagoon including: flow from land drainage and its negative impact on estuarine productivity; loss of seagrasses and mangroves; coordinating local, state, or federal programs for the lagoon; and the need for public education to incorporate science into decision-making.

Gulf Coast Environmental Defense
Gulf Coast Environmental Defense (GCED) was formed in 1992 to protect Florida Panhandle beaches from offshore drilling. GCED has collected over 17,000petition signatures and over 300 resolutions against offshore drilling from individuals, local businesses and government, including the Governor,the Florida House of Representatives, and Congressman Scarborough. In September of 1997, the U.S. Congress will deliberate a bill which permanently bans new offshore drilling lease sales in Florida waters, The Florida Coastal Protection Act.

Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary
The Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary is an open air home and rehabilitation center to 39 different species of Florida birds. A hardworking staff, plus 300 bird loving volunteers rescue and rehabilitate.

Pollution Prevention (P2) Coalition of Palm Beach County
The Pollution Prevention (P2) Coalition of Palm Beach County is an organization which is dedicated to reducing or eliminating pollution at its source. The Pollution Prevention Coalition works to achieve these goals through literature, workshops, the Internet, and other means, the P2 Coalition strives to provide practical information and ideas to prevent pollution. The P2 Coalition is a voluntary group of local industry, academia, and government representatives with a common interest in preventing pollution to retain the quality of our environment.
